Our Trip to Old Mission

Just over a week ago our class visited Old Mission. Old Mission is the place where Fr Richard Docerty first landed to start up the Wadey Mission. It is a place of special significant to our history and in particular some of our students who Old Mission is their Country.

Here is a couple of pictures of our trip. We are pointing at the place on the beach where Fr Docerty's boat first landed, the Mary Statue is where the first Mass was held and the metal bar in the ground is where the first lawn mowers worked from (i.e. the goats).

Sorry it's taken a little time to get it up and running.

This term we have been learning about the History of Wadeye (also known as Port Keats) in particular the History and Formation of the Wadeye Mission. Along side that we have been learning further about our Culture, Totems and Country.
